Preparation Step: Cleaning Appliance with Soap and Water
Preparation Step: Clean with Rubbing Alcohol

STEPS 1-6

Step 1 - Decal Preparation: Soaking in Water

Place the decal in a bowl of room temperature water and leave it for 30-60 seconds, no longer. The decal film will start to separate from the backing. Please use room temperature water as water that is too cold or too warm could compromise adhesion.

Place the wet decal on a paper towel and drain for about 60 seconds.

TIP: Begin step 3 while the decal is soaking so it does not dry out. It needs to remain wet.

Step 2 - Decal Application: Utilizing Solvent

Apply solvent to the area on the range the decal will be placed.

Apply liberally. The solvent is water-based and will not permanently leave any residue on the range.

TIP: This is an important step. The wet decal will be placed over the solvent as explained in the next step.

Step 3 - Easy Decal Application: Removing Paper Backing

After applying the solvent and while the decal is still wet...

  • Place the decal face down onto the range and the paper backing facing up.

  • Use your fingers to adjust the decal into its proper place.

  • You may add a few drops of water to the decal to keep it wet while you position it.

  • Press the decal firmly against the range only when you are sure about its position.

  • Gently peel off the white paper backing leaving the clear decal film in place.

Step 4 - Smooth Decal Application: Squeegee Excess Liquid

Once the decal is in the right position, use your fingers to press and smooth out the decal onto the range. Squeegee over the decal to remove any excess moisture.

Step 5 - Heat Application Technique: Enhance Decal Adhesion

Apply heat with a hairdryer or heat gun for at least 3 minutes. Start at low heat then switch to high heat.

If bubbles form, press them out with your finger or squeegee to release.

TIPS: While you are heating the decal. You may press directly down on the decal helping the ink transfer over then continue with heat. The ink must make contact to the service area.

Heat and solvent are the secret to a successful transfer (up to 400 degrees).

Step 6 - Finishing Touch: Removing Final Film

Once the decal has dried and completely cooled down, peel off the final film backing with fingertips, craft knife, or razor blade.  Be careful not to scratch the actual decal as the ink is still weak.

Clean off the remaining solvent with a tissue or soft cloth.

If you see any part of the decal not adhering to the appliance and remains stuck to the final layer film.  Stop removing the final layer of film. Add a small amount of solvent and re-heat the decal for a longer and/or hotter period of time periodically pressing the decal down with your fingers or squeegee.    Wait for it to cool completely and once again slowly remove the final film.

FINAL TIPS & TRICKS

  • The decal is a three-layer film free decal, not a sticker, you will be removing two layers when installing.

  •  Remove old decals with rubbing alcohol or acetone.

  • Leaving the decal in water too long can weaken the ink.

  • If you have issues transferring the decal, try increasing the heat for a longer period of time.

    • The hotter the better

    • The longer the better

    • Try a heat gun vs. hairdryer

  • Heat is the secret to a successful transfer (up to 400 degrees).

  • Although it is not required.  A heat gun does make the application process much easier and faster compared to a hairdryer. If you or a friend does not own a heat gun.  They are relatively inexpensive and can be found on Amazon for under $10.

  • The trick to successfully applying the decal is the solvent and the heat. You want the decal to transfer the ink over and bake it into your appliance.

  • The ink will seal and become more durable with time.
